PiSky Setup reference

Every option on the PiSky Setup page, from station coordinates to service start/stop controls.

PiSky Setup is the single admin page that configures the whole station — coordinates, weather source, ADS-B receiver, sharing, and the underlying services. Every field below writes through piskyctl, which validates the change and keeps a timestamped backup before applying it.

Station

  • Coordinates and timezone — shared by the camera, weather and ADS-B capabilities, so you only set them once. Timezone drives the "This morning / Today / This evening / Tonight" visitor greeting and the sunrise/sunset calculations.
  • Display units — Metric or Imperial, applied consistently across both the public site and the admin interface.

Weather source

  • Provider — Open-Meteo (hosted forecast, no hardware) or a local/remote WeeWX station.
  • Guided station presets — Ecowitt/Fine Offset custom server, Weather Underground-compatible client, and ObserverIP/Ambient bridges, each configured from a short in-browser wizard rather than by hand-editing weewx.conf.
  • Advanced weewx.conf editor — for stations or drivers the guided presets don't cover, the complete local weewx.conf is editable directly from the same page.

ADS-B receiver

  • Receiver type — RTL-SDR (with device index/serial, gain and PPM correction) or a Mode-S Beast-compatible serial receiver (serial path, baud rate, and Beast Classic vs. GPS/Radarcape stream format).
  • Decoder network settings — the local decoder's paths, listening ports, network visibility, and how long a position is considered fresh before it's dropped from the display.
  • Coverage map zoom — the admin-side zoom level for the coverage map, with its own separate toggle for whether that coverage circle is shown publicly at all (see Aircraft & ADS-B for why this matters for privacy).

Sharing

  • FlightAware and Flightradar24 indicators — PiSky shows whether PiAware or fr24feed are separately installed and feeding from the same local decoder; it does not install, configure or bundle either client itself.

Services

  • Start, stop, restart — for each PiSky-managed service (camera capture, the weather bridge, the ADS-B decoder), without a terminal.
  • Boot state — whether each service comes back automatically after a reboot.
